a personal note
Jul 04, 2025
Hi again,
It’s been too long since I’ve published on here! That usually means I have loads of new work I need to slow down and publish. The priority this weekend is to share a recent article in Collater.al Magazine where I released a handful of new images as part of my series-in-progress, HOME PLANET.
Here’s a pull quote from Collater.al’s piece and a handful of frames from the series:
“The images in Home Planet depict scenes that oscillate between the ordinary and the symbolic, where fatherhood and grief intertwine as subtle yet constant presences. The project reflects how personal experience reshapes the artist’s gaze, suggesting that there is no clear divide between life and art, only a continuous flow of emotions and visual narratives.”

Related question of the week: Do you have any favorite photo books? If so, what appeals to you most about them?
And lastly: what’s stuck in your head today?
Henry just showed me Boyhood by The Japanese House, I’ve been revisiting some 2000’s records like The Books, and I dig that Caroline song that just came out, Tell me I never knew that.
If my next Substack isn’t out in 2 weeks I deserve hostile DMs.
Talk soon,

Hey friends,
I might have said this last year: Halloween is by far my favorite holiday, especially now.
October was eerily flawless here in the Northeast. Across a handful of weekend trips I was able to enjoy peak foliage around Boston, Brooklyn, driving up the Hudson River, and back home in Burlington. I’m still processing film from the past few weeks but today’s photo set is all about trick-or-treating.
This year was unusually warm, like mid 70’s, which made it easy for us to cover a huge amount of suburban territory.
Do you remember your “best ever” halloween? If so, what made it your favorite? If not, how’d you spend this year?
I always love to read your replies in my inbox – thanks for stopping by.

Happy September,
I’ve been looking forward to sharing this post :) and a few others that I need to make time to finish.
My favorite part about the Substack format is seeing your replies hit my inbox, so let me know: what’s exciting in your world this month? What are you cooking?
August/September have been busy here. I took on a handful of freelance projects that were wrapping up around the same time as the 10th annual Otis Mountain Get Down, perfect chance to go camping and photograph live music. If you’re not familiar, Otis is a music festival that takes place in the Adirondack Mountains, and I was happy to be invited back to capture the scene again.
It’s hard to describe what makes this festival so special but I’m told that tickets sell out before the lineup is even announced. Not only does this mean you’re bound to discover your new favorite bands at Otis, but the attending community has a lot of trust in the programmers and event runners, I totally see why.
Editing soundtrack for this collection was a handful of the bands featured in the photos: Evangeline, PIERI, Mei Semones – all new discoveries, just in time for fall. Now I’m moving on to processing some landscape work (will share soon) and I’m diving deep into the Ginger Root discography – thanks to Tavis for the rec.
What’s on your September soundtrack?
