Friends,
If you’re reading this, you’re tuned into the only channel I invest meaning in these days. Instagram has become a sterile and uninspiring space for me. Twitter is a bit more active lately but I try not to doomscroll, just post work and leave. The fact is, social media has entirely inverted the purpose I once believed it could hold for artists. I’m not proposing an alternative or offering some sophisticated theory, it’s just a hollow and surreal era on the web. My instinct during the covid era has been to restrict my app usage and focus on projects. Do you feel this hollowness in your online experience? It’s certainly a thematic in my latest series, here’s the opening set of Winter 2022:
While editing this series, I found Brian Eno’s Compact Forest Proposal to be a fantastic soundtrack. I highly recommend for any focused activity or general zoning out. Thanks for reading and please do stay in touch.
